Southern Maryland is really a great place to live. The area is safe, has a laid back feel and provides great public schools. If you are looking to move to the Patuxent (Pax) river area to work at the Pax River Naval Air Station (NAS), then St. Mary’s County and/or Calvert County are great locations to reside in.
One of the nice things about the Pax River area is the ability to commute to DC. The distance is close enough to travel to work each day but also far enough away to give the area a nice hometown feeling. The distance also makes the cost of living in this area a little more reasonable. It is not unusual for one household member to commute to DC while the other works at the Pax River NAS.
